California Privacy Policy

This Privacy Notice for California Residents supplements the Privacy Policy of FxRate.org ("we", "us", "our"; https://fxrate.org/) and applies only to visitors, users and others who live in the State of California ("consumers" or "you"). It is written to meet the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (together, the "CCPA"). Terms defined in the CCPA have the same meaning here. Our main Privacy Policy applies as well.

Personal information we collect

In the last 12 months we collected the categories of personal information about California residents that are summarised in the table below. Because we show advertising from advertising partners that use cookies and similar technologies, some of this information (shown in the table) may be treated as "sold" or "shared" for cross-context behavioural advertising under the CCPA. We do not sell your name or e-mail address, and we do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16.

We do not intentionally collect sensitive personal information (such as government ID numbers, precise location, or health, financial-account or biometric data), and we do not use it to infer characteristics about you.

Personal information does not include: publicly available information from government records; de-identified or aggregated information; and information that the CCPA does not cover, such as information covered by the Fair Credit Reporting Act, the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act or similar sector laws.

Why we collect, use and share it

We use and disclose personal information for these business and commercial purposes: providing and operating the Services; sending the e-mails and alerts you ask for; security, fraud prevention and detecting illegal activity; debugging; auditing our interactions with you; analytics and internal research to maintain and improve the Services; providing and measuring advertising and marketing; legal compliance; and other purposes the CCPA lists as business purposes. We keep personal information only as long as needed for these purposes and for legal, security or accounting reasons.

We disclose personal information for a business purpose to: service providers (hosting, content delivery and security, e-mail delivery, analytics); government entities where the law requires; and advertising partners as described above.

Cookies and tracking technologies

We and other companies use cookies, web beacons (also called pixel tags or clear GIFs) and similar technologies to store and read information on your device and to collect data about your activity on the site. A cookie is a small file that a website places on your device. They are used to make a site work, to make it work better, and to give information to its owners and advertisers.

Some content on the site, including advertisements, is served by third parties such as advertisers, ad networks and analytics providers. They may use cookies alone or with web beacons to collect information about you when you use the site, and may collect information about your online activities over time and across other websites. We do not control these technologies. Your browser accepts cookies by default, and you can change that at any time:

If you do not accept cookies you can still use the site, but some parts may not work. For more about cookies, visit aboutcookies.org.

Google Analytics. Where we use it, Google Analytics sets cookies that collect information about how visitors use the site (for example the number of visitors, where they came from and the pages they viewed) so that we can compile reports and improve the site. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services. To opt out across all websites, visit tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

Your rights as a California resident

Subject to exceptions and limits in the law, you have the right to:

  • Know the categories and specific pieces of personal information we collect, use, disclose, sell or share about you, the sources, the purposes, and the categories of third parties that receive it.
  • Delete the personal information we collected from you.
  • Correct inaccurate personal information we maintain about you.
  • Opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information.
  • Limit the use of sensitive personal information. We do not use sensitive personal information in ways that give rise to this right.
  • Not be discriminated against for using these rights. We will not deny you the Services, charge you different prices, or give you a different level or quality of service because you used a right.

How to use your rights. Please contact us through the contact page and put CCPA in the subject line, saying which right you want to use. We will confirm receipt and answer within the time the law allows (generally 45 days).

How to opt out of the sale or sharing of your information. Opt-outs for advertising cookies are specific to the browser or device you use. You can use your browser's privacy settings or an opt-out signal, Google Ad Settings, the Digital Advertising Alliance or the Network Advertising Initiative, or write to us with CCPA opt-out in the subject line. We do not represent that these third-party tools are complete or accurate.

Verification. Because most of the information we hold identifies only a browser or device and not you personally, we may need extra information from you to verify who you are or to understand your request (for example the e-mail address of your account, or a cookie or device identifier and proof that the device is yours). We use it only to handle your request.

Authorised agent. You may appoint an authorised agent to make a request for you. We will need proof that you gave the agent permission, and we may ask you to verify your own identity.

Minors. We do not sell or share the personal information of consumers we know to be under 16 years of age.
